"Individually and collectively, (the Gerald Clayton Trio's) performance was at a stunningly high professional level--enhanced by the enthusiastic feeling of exhilaration in everything they played."

SEPTEMBER 28th and 29th @ THE JAZZ GALLERY

I've spent the past few months working on some new music for an upcoming performance for the Jazz Gallery's Composers' Series. I'm extremely excited about this great project that the Jazz Gallery has put together. Six composers have been asked to write new, original music to be performed over the next few months at the Jazz Gallery. Once all six composers have performed, we will begin collaborating and combining each other's pieces for additional concerts in 2008.

With the help and guidance of renowned composer Oliver Lake, the following musicians have been asked to write for this year's series-

Luis Perdomo
John Ellis
Yosvany Terry
Aaron Parks
Marcus Gilmore
and me- Gerald Clayton :-)

The music that I am writing for this project is inspired by my recent travel experiences. Each tune will attempt to capture my reflections and thoughts of people and places I have seen around the world. Kind of like a soundtrack to my life on the road.

If you are in New York City on September 28th and 29th, please stop by the Jazz Gallery and check out some of my favorite musicians playing my original music.
