Hey there good people,
I hope you're all having a happy summer season, filled with some good weather and quality vacation time. I have been keeping busy the past few months traveling around Europe, playing at some great clubs and festivals with my trio. It's such a pleasure to travel with two guys who are good friends as well as musical inspirations to me. Joe Sanders and Justin Brown are tearing it up out here! Right now we're doing a short tour on the west coast, and then it's back home to New York. If you're on the East Coast in August, I'll be playing with some exciting groups in the New York area.
 
August 19-22 I'll be at the Iridium with the legendary drummer Al Foster. It'll be a quartet featuring Chris Potter on tenor sax, and Doug Weiss on bass. This is guaranteed to be an exciting and inspiring gig for me. I hope to see you there.
 
August 26-29 at the Jazz Standard, I'll be premiering some new music for my quintet featuring Ambrose Akinmusire on trumpet, Logan Richardson on alto sax, Joe Sanders bass, and Justin Brown drums. These are some of the most creative and lyrical musicians I've encountered. I can't wait to hear what sort of life they breathe into my music. I hope you can join us

I'm stoked to be attending the Grammy's this weekend! I've been nominated for best improvised jazz solo. It's an honor to be recognized in the same group as some of my musical heroes- Terence Blanchard, Roy Hargrove, Miguel Zenon... Anyone who's gonna be there, I'll see you on the red carpet : )
 
On January 30th, I'll be in Los Angeles doing a very special duo concert with one of my favorite pianists and good friends, Taylor Eigsti. As soon as I get back to New York in February, I'll be practicing and writing for one of the more significant gigs in my life thus far. I'll be playing with my trio at the historical Village Vanguard from February 9-14. We will be celebrating the re-release of my cd "Two-Shade" on Universal Music Company, Emarcy Records. The Vanguard has been the top club in New York for decades, hosting a long list of legends. I have seen many an inspiring show there, and I can't wait to bring my own group in. If you are in New York in February, I would love to see you there.

Hello friends,
Thanks for visiting my site. I've been enjoying a busy year of music making. This summer I went on tour with my trio in Europe. We had some good times in Spain, Italy, and Holland... shout out to my motherland : )
After our European excursion, we flew to Seattle, and drove to a beautiful Washington town called Port Townsend. We spent the week there teaching at Centrum's Jazz Workshop along with some of my best friends and musical heroes. What an inspiring hang that was! All the students were great, and by the end of the week they had grown so much. Thanks to everyone who was part of that special occasion. I left that week determined to hit the shed and start practicing!
I'm thrilled to have released my first album! Thanks to all the people who have supported my project. All the positive feedback has been very encouraging, I'm looking forward to getting back into the studio to work on number two.
I'm very excited to finish off the year with some cool upcoming gigs. Along with my trio, I'll be keeping busy playing with Ambrose Akinmusire, Gretchen Parlato, and the Clayton Brothers. Check out the calendar page to see if we'll be in a city near you.

I had the privilege of playing with Benny Golson and Curtis Fuller recently. What an inspiring experience that was. I hope I can play like that when I'm 80! 
These days I've been focusing most of my time on developing concepts for my trio. It's such a joy to play with two great friends and great musicians, Joe Sanders and Justin Brown. I hope you all are enjoying the spring season as much as I am.

I am still in the process of moving my life from Los Angeles to New York. So at the moment I'm living out of suitcases, using cardboard boxes as tables, and unfortunately practicing on a keyboard (aaaah!!!!). I need to get a piano in my apartment immediately, because I've got some serious piano work to tackle this week.

On May 22nd, I will be going to Japan for the 100 Gold Fingers Piano Tour. This annual event brings together 10 pianists to play 14 shows throughout Japan. Some of the other pianists this year will be Kenny Barron, Junior Mance, Cedar Walton, and Benny Green. I am extremely honored to be a part of this tour, and I'm totally excited to see Japan for the first time.

If you're in the New York area in June, keep a look out for me. I'll be on the scene, playing gigs, and checking out the sessions. You can always check my calendar to see where I'll be.
